How do I search a driver's license?

A driver's license search can be used to determine if a license is currently valid or invalid.

  1. Go to www.browardclerk.org
  2. Select Online Services and Driver License Search
  3. On the Driver License Search screen, enter your Florida Driver License number (do not enter dashes) and click Submit. This search may take up to 60 seconds.
  4. The License Search Result will display driver license number and the License Status, which will indicate whether or not the driver license is currently valid.

What type of driver licenses can I search?

Only Florida Driver License numbers can be searched through the Clerk of Courts website. To check the status of a license that was issued by a state other than Florida, you must contact the state where the license was issued.

Can I pay for a Broward County citation if I have a license from another state?

If the case does not reflect a Florida Driver License number and a license suspension has been issued, you can still pay for the citation, as long as it does not require proof or court appearance. Citations, such as, Failure to Display License, Registration or Insurance need to be seen by the Clerk's office in order to be charged the correct court fees. You may also pay for the D6 suspension fee; however, if you do not hold a Florida Driver License you will not be able to pay the reinstatement fee with the Clerk or on the Clerk's website.

Only Florida Driver License numbers can be searched through the Clerk of Courts website. To check the status of a license that was issued by a state other than Florida, you must contact the state where the license was issued. There may be other requirements for the reinstatement.

What are the requirements for paying a citation that has caused a license suspension?

If the case does not reflect a Florida Driver License number and a license suspension has been issued, you can still pay for the citation as long as it does not require proof of court appearance along with any late and D6 fees. If you hold an out-of-state driver license other requirements may be needed by the issuing State Department of Motor Vehicles to be in compliance.

If you are unable to pay for the citation on the Clerk's website, you may still pay for the citation in person at any of our Broward County Service Locations or by mail.

Can I obtain a driver license from the Clerk of Courts after reinstating my license?

No. The Clerk of Courts can only reinstate and cannot issue a driver's license. If you possess the actual, physical license and have resolved all outstanding suspensions, you may reinstate your license through the Clerk of Courts website. If you do not have a physical license, you may still reinstate through the Clerk of Courts website, but you will be required to obtain a replacement license from the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Can I reinstate my license for all suspensions / revocations through the Clerk of Courts website?

Please review the following scenarios to determine if you are eligible for reinstatement through the Clerk of Courts website.

If your license has been suspended or revoked for any reason other than the ones listed above, you are not eligible for reinstatement through the Clerk of Courts.

What if I paid the reinstatement fee, but my driver license was not reinstated?

If the reinstatement process could not be completed at the time of payment, the Clerk of Courts will continue to submit the reinstatement information to the Department of Motor Vehicles. You may continue to check your driver license status periodically to ensure that the reinstatement process has been completed.

What is the cost of a driver license reinstatement?

The cost to reinstate a Florida Driver License at any Clerk of Court Service Location is $60.00. The total cost to reinstate a Florida Driver License through the Clerk of Courts website is $65.00 ($60.00 reinstatement fee, plus a $5.00 convenience fee). All reinstatements completed on the website are processed immediately.
