The Clerk of the Circuit and County Courts of Broward County serves as a ministerial arm to the judicial system. The general functions and duties of the Clerk's office are to maintain court records, attend trials, and/or hearings as required, and offer the public assistance within all statutory guidelines. The Clerk's office is also responsible for the payment of all jurors and witnesses required at trials and depositions.

A subpoena is traditionally defined as a command to appear at a certain time and place to give testimony regarding a certain matter. Testimony is normally given in a court of law, or by deposition, in the presence of a court reporter.
If you are served with a subpoena and have any questions, or are unable to attend on the date specified, you must contact the agency or attorney that subpoenaed you.
If you are subpoenaed by the Clerk's office in reference to a traffic accident and are unable to attend, you must notify the Hearing Officer, in writing, prior to the court date. If you fail to respond to the subpoena, you may be held in contempt of court.
